Panama commenced their Group C campaign in the Concacaf Gold Cup 2025 with a resounding victory over Guadeloupe, securing a 5-2 win at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California on June 16, 2025.

Panama dominated early, with Cristian Martinez opening the scoring in the 6th minute, assisted by J. Gutierrez. Ismael Diaz then scored twice in quick succession, in the 14th and 17th minutes, to give Panama a commanding 3-0 lead. His first goal was assisted by Michael Murillo. Eduardo Guerrero further extended Panama's lead to 4-0 in the 22nd minute with a penalty kick.

Guadeloupe managed to pull one back in the 29th minute through Jordan Leborgne, assisted by T. Ambrose, reducing the deficit to 4-1. The first half concluded with Panama firmly in control, but Guadeloupe showed signs of fight.

The second half saw substitutions from both sides as each team looked to freshen up their lineups. Guadeloupe's efforts were rewarded in the 71st minute when Florian David scored from a penalty kick, making it 4-2. However, Panama responded emphatically as Tomas Rodriguez, who was subbed in, scored his first-ever goal for Panama in added time, assisted by Eric Davis, sealing the victory at 5-2.

Ismael Diaz was a standout performer, scoring two goals and posing a constant threat to the Guadeloupe defense. Jordan Leborgne's goal was a highlight for Guadeloupe, showcasing their resilience despite the scoreline.

Panama displayed superior attacking prowess, converting their chances efficiently. Their early goals set the tone for the match, putting Guadeloupe on the back foot. Guadeloupe, while showing glimpses of quality, struggled to contain Panama's attacking threat and were ultimately undone by defensive errors.

The match saw a few yellow cards, with A. Andrade of Panama cautioned in the 76th minute and Mickael Alphonse of Guadeloupe also receiving a yellow card.

In terms of team stats, Panama recorded 11 shots, with 8 on goal, while Guadeloupe had 6 shots, with 5 on goal. Panama displayed better efficiency in front of goal, which ultimately proved to be the difference between the two sides. Panama's next challenge will be to maintain this form as they progress further into the Gold Cup, while Guadeloupe will need to regroup and address their defensive vulnerabilities to remain competitive in the tournament.
