The investigation into the shocking murder of Haryana model Sheetal has taken a significant turn with the reported confession and subsequent arrest of the accused. The 24-year-old model, also known as Simmi Chaudhary, was found dead on Monday near a canal in Kharkhoda, Sonipat, with her throat slit, sending shockwaves through the regional entertainment industry and her family.
Sheetal had been missing since Saturday, June 14th, after leaving her home in Panipat for a music album shoot. When she failed to return, her family filed a missing person report with the local police. Tragically, her body was discovered two days later, identified by distinctive tattoos on her hand and chest.
According to reports, Sheetal's sister, Neha, stated that Sheetal made a distress video call on the day she disappeared, alleging that her boyfriend was physically assaulting her and attempting to forcibly take her away. The call was abruptly cut off, and subsequent attempts to contact her were unsuccessful. Adding to the mystery, the boyfriend's car was found partially submerged in the Delhi Parallel Canal in Panipat the following morning. The boyfriend, identified as Sunil, was rescued from the vehicle by local residents, but Sheetal was nowhere to be found.
Sonipat ACP (Headquarters) Ajit Singh confirmed the recovery of Sheetal's body and stated that a post-mortem examination had been conducted. He also mentioned that investigators were treating the case as a suspected murder and were exploring all possible angles, including the potential involvement of her boyfriend.
Sheetal's sister suspected Sunil of being involved in the murder, claiming he had been pressuring Sheetal to marry him. Sheetal had reportedly met Sunil while working at his hotel in Karnal. Neha alleged that Sunil continued to pursue Sheetal even after she ended her employment at the hotel and discovered that he was already married with children.
The CBI's investigation revealed that four police officers allegedly conspired to frame Ashok Kumar in another murder case. The agency alleges that these officers tortured Kumar, including giving him electric shocks and administering injections, to extract a false confession. They are also accused of fabricating documents such as seizure memos and case diaries, some of which were backdated to create a false narrative implicating Kumar before he had even been questioned or named in the FIR.
The Sonipat Police have launched a thorough investigation into Sheetal's murder. As of now, the accused is in custody. The police are working diligently to gather evidence and determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the police continue their inquiry.
