Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently in Canada for the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, marking his first visit to the country in a decade. On the sidelines of the summit, he has engaged in a series of significant bilateral meetings with leaders from across the globe, focusing on strengthening partnerships and addressing pressing global issues.

One of the key meetings was with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepen the India-South Korea Special Strategic Partnership. Discussions revolved around exploring new avenues for cooperation, particularly in trade and economy, critical and emerging technologies, green hydrogen, shipbuilding, culture, and people-to-people connections. This meeting underscores the importance both nations place on their bilateral relationship and their desire to expand collaboration in diverse sectors.

PM Modi also met with Mexico's President, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. This was the first meeting between the two leaders, providing an opportunity to share perspectives on key global and regional issues, with a particular emphasis on the priorities of the Global South. This interaction is significant as it aims to strengthen the warm and historical ties between India and Mexico, paving the way for enhanced cooperation in the future. Discussions covered various sectors, including trade, pharmaceuticals, science and technology, and digital innovation.

Another important bilateral meeting was held with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. The two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen the India-Australia partnership, building on the existing strong relationship between the two countries.

In addition to these meetings, PM Modi also interacted with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. These discussions provide an opportunity to address shared challenges and explore avenues for enhanced cooperation.

During the G7 Outreach Session, PM Modi plans to emphasize the priorities of the Global South, focusing on issues such as energy security, technology, and innovation. He is also expected to participate in discussions on crucial global matters, including the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the situation in West Asia.

PM Modi's participation in the G7 Summit and his bilateral meetings with global leaders highlight India's growing importance on the world stage. His emphasis on the Global South underscores India's commitment to representing the interests of developing nations and promoting inclusive global growth. The discussions held during these meetings are expected to contribute to strengthening India's relationships with key partner countries and addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing the world today.
