While Shah Rukh Khan's name isn't currently associated with Rajinikanth's "Jailer 2," buzz is building around the potential inclusion of another prominent Bollywood figure. According to recent reports, Vidya Balan is in talks to join the cast of the highly anticipated sequel.
"Jailer 2," directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is a continuation of the 2023 action-comedy hit, "Jailer." Rajinikanth will reprise his role as Muthuvel Pandian, also known as "Tiger." Confirmed returning cast members include Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, and Mirnaa Menon. S.J. Suryah has also been cast in a significant role. Additionally, veteran actors Shiva Rajkumar and Nandamuri Balakrishna are expected to make cameo appearances.
Speculation surrounding Vidya Balan's potential role has generated considerable excitement. While details about her character remain under wraps, sources suggest she has been approached for a pivotal part. Her addition to the film would undoubtedly elevate the ensemble cast, given her reputation for versatile acting.
Adding to the anticipation, there are rumors that Nagarjuna may play the main villain in "Jailer 2." His performance as Simon in the upcoming movie "Coolie" is said to have influenced this casting decision.
Nelson Dilipkumar reportedly visited the set of the Malayalam film "Hridayapoorvam" in early May to meet with Mohanlal, possibly to discuss the actor's return as Mathew. This could lead to further crossovers or guest appearances, heightening the film's appeal.
Filming for "Jailer 2" commenced in Chennai in March 2025. Rajinikanth recently completed shooting key portions in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The film's technical crew includes Anirudh Ravichander as the music composer, Vijay Kartik Kannan as the cinematographer, and R. Nirmal as the editor.
Rajinikanth has stated that shooting for "Jailer 2" is expected to be completed by December 2025. The film is backed by Kalanithi Sun Pictures, and plot details and a release date are still awaited. However, fans are already anticipating that the film will gross ₹1000 crore at the box office.
