Shweta Tiwari, the popular television actress, recently shared insights into her parenting style and how she instilled financial responsibility in her daughter, Palak Tiwari, who is now also making her mark in the entertainment industry. In a recent interview, Shweta revealed that she implemented a system of household chores for Palak to earn pocket money, teaching her the value of hard work and money management.
Shweta Tiwari, known for her role in "Kasautii Zindagi Kay," raised Palak as a single mother and emphasized the importance of discipline and rules in their household. While not overly strict, Shweta maintained clear boundaries, especially regarding Palak's curfew. She ensured Palak understood the importance of punctuality and accountability, stating that if Palak promised to be home by 1 am, she was expected to be at the door at that time. Shweta also kept track of Palak's whereabouts and maintained contact with her friends' mothers to ensure her safety.
To instill financial responsibility, Shweta gave Palak a monthly budget. If Palak exceeded her allowance, she had to compensate by doing household chores. Shweta had a list of chores with corresponding monetary values: cleaning the bathroom earned ₹1000, making the bed ₹500, and doing the dishes ₹1000. Palak, understanding the system, would often do extra chores in advance if she knew she would exceed her budget. Shweta said, "She was given a budget. For instance, I allowed her to spend Rs 25,000 and if she went from 25,000 to 30,000, she knew that she would be asked to do household chores to compensate for it".
Shweta also regulated Palak's access to certain things. Palak wasn't allowed to use makeup until she was 16 and didn't get a phone until she finished schooling. Shweta admitted to being protective of Palak, especially given societal challenges. She was aware that even though Palak doesn't drink alcohol, people around her might.
Since Palak started earning her own money, Shweta has been actively involved in managing and investing her income. She keeps a limited amount in Palak's account and directs the rest into savings and investments. Shweta also involves Palak in the process by making her sign necessary documents, teaching her about financial planning.
Palak Tiwari, born on October 8, 2000, has followed in her mother's footsteps and is building her own career in the entertainment industry. She made her Bollywood debut in "Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan" in 2023. She also appeared in Harrdy Sandhu's music video "Bijlee Bijlee," which gained her significant recognition. Palak's journey has been marked by her passion for acting and dancing, which she cultivated from a young age.
Shweta Tiwari's approach to parenting reflects a balance of love, discipline, and practicality. By involving Palak in household chores and teaching her about financial responsibility, Shweta has instilled important life skills in her daughter, preparing her for success in her personal and professional life.
