Adnan Sami Shuts Down Pakistani Trolls: India Recognized My Talent When You Didn't.

Adnan Sami has once again found himself in the crosshairs of online trolls, this time facing criticism from Pakistani users. The singer, who became an Indian citizen in 2016, is known for his vocal support of India and its armed forces. This has often made him a target for those across the border who question his loyalty and motives.

The latest wave of trolling follows Sami's social media activity, including praising India's "Operation Sindoor" and expressing his patriotism. These actions have been interpreted by some as attempts to appease certain groups in India or to maintain his relevance in the Indian media landscape.

Sami has never shied away from addressing his critics head-on. He has often responded to trolls with sharp wit and humor, making it clear that he stands by his decision to embrace Indian citizenship. In one instance, when questioned about seeking favor from right-wing groups, Sami retorted with a cutting remark. He has also used imagery, such as a sewing kit with green thread, to take digs at his detractors.

The singer's journey from Pakistan to India has been marked by both musical success and political controversy. Originally celebrated in Pakistan for hits like "Kabhi To Nazar Milao" and "Lift Kara De," Sami's career took a turn when he decided to move to India. He has stated that he felt a lack of support and recognition in Pakistan, while India offered him a welcoming environment and appreciation for his craft.

Sami has often spoken about the challenges he faced in Pakistan, including alleged pressure from authorities. He claims that his Pakistani passport was not renewed, making it difficult for him to travel, and that he was even accused of abandoning Pakistan. In contrast, he says that India granted him citizenship based on his extraordinary talent as a musician.

His decision to become an Indian citizen has not been without personal cost. Sami revealed that he was denied a visa to attend his mother's funeral in Pakistan in October 2024, forcing him to watch the last rites via video call. This emotional incident underscored the strained relationship he now has with his former homeland.

Despite the criticism and controversies, Adnan Sami remains steadfast in his embrace of India. He often expresses his gratitude for the opportunities and recognition he has received in the country. He was also honored with the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award, in 2021. For Sami, it seems that India has not only provided him with a new home but also a sense of belonging and appreciation that he feels was lacking in Pakistan.
