On the eve of International Yoga Day, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami hosted ambassadors and high commissioners from various countries in Bhararisain, Chamoli district. The event served as a cultural prelude to the International Day of Yoga. Diplomats from eight nations attended the event held at the Vidhan Sabha premises in Bhararisain.
Chief Minister Dhami addressed the gathering, reflecting on his experiences abroad and highlighting Uttarakhand's potential as a premier tourist destination. He recalled conversations in London, Dubai, and other countries where people inquired about the number of destinations in Uttarakhand. He emphasized that Uttarakhand offers countless undiscovered destinations.
The foreign dignitaries were greeted with a vibrant display of Uttarakhand's rich folk culture upon their arrival. The traditional Chholia dance and local musical instruments created a welcoming atmosphere, leaving the guests impressed. The ambassadors and high commissioners were photographed with the artists.
The diplomats expressed their admiration for the natural beauty, green valleys, and clean environment of Gairsain, the summer capital of Uttarakhand.
Ahead of International Yoga Day, Chief Minister Dhami emphasized the importance of promoting yoga at the grassroots level. He has hailed Uttarakhand as the land of yoga and sages, highlighting the government's commitment to promoting yoga. Dhami has encouraged the people of Uttarakhand to incorporate yoga into their daily routines, describing it as a means to achieve inner peace and self-realization. He noted yoga's deep roots in Indian culture and its role as a fundamental aspect of Sanatan Dharma, which prioritizes human values and holistic well-being.
Chief Minister Dhami also acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposal at the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, which led to the annual observance of International Yoga Day on June 21. He pointed out that yoga has become a source of livelihood, creating employment opportunities both in India and abroad. The state government has implemented a Yoga Policy aimed at establishing Uttarakhand as the global capital of yoga and wellness.
As part of the International Yoga Day celebrations, a grand event is scheduled to take place in Gairsain, the summer capital of Uttarakhand. Chief Minister Dhami will lead the state's official Yoga Day program at the Bharadisain assembly complex. Ambassadors from eight countries will participate in the yoga session. Thousands of yoga enthusiasts and local residents are expected to join the mass yoga demonstration. The state administration has finalized all arrangements for the event.
