Andhra Pradesh is gearing up to host a monumental International Yoga Day (IDY) event on June 21, 2025, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the celebrations in Visakhapatnam. The state government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the event's success, aiming for record-breaking participation and promoting wellness on a grand scale.

The main event, "Yoga Sangam," will feature synchronized mass yoga demonstrations based on the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) across over 1 lakh locations in India. In Visakhapatnam, the celebrations will stretch along a 26-kilometer corridor from Ramakrishna Beach to Bhogapuram, with an expected participation of over 3 lakh people. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has emphasized that the event is being organized to achieve Guinness World Record recognition.

The preparations are extensive, with officials identifying and registering over 1.3 lakh locations across the state for yoga activities. Alternative arrangements are also in place for 30,000 people in Visakhapatnam, ensuring the event can proceed smoothly regardless of weather conditions. The Andhra Pradesh government aims to mobilize lakhs of people across the state to participate in simultaneous yoga activities, setting multiple records. As part of this effort, 25,000 tribal students will perform Surya Namaskars for 108 minutes, aiming to set records for the largest group and the most people performing Surya Namaskars simultaneously.

To facilitate the event, the Andhra Pradesh government has declared a two-day holiday for schools and colleges in Visakhapatnam on June 20 and 21. This decision ensures the smooth conduct of the Yoga Day event and encourages student participation in promoting wellness across the state.

The International Day of Yoga 2025 is themed "Yoga for One Earth, One Health," aligning yoga with sustainability and global well-being. This theme reflects the Indian civilizational ethos of "Sarve Santu Niramaya," meaning "May all be free from disease," and supports the global health vision presented during India's G20 Presidency.

Andhra Pradesh has launched a month-long campaign called "Yoga Andhra," which began on May 21 and will continue until June 21. This campaign aims to involve at least two crore people across the state in yoga practices, promoting physical and mental well-being. The initiative includes a 45-minute common yoga protocol designed by experts, with training sessions organized from village to district levels. A special app and portal have been created for registration, and certificates will be provided to trained participants who can then educate others in their communities.

The "Yoga Andhra" campaign includes several structured activities: district-level training in the first week, mandal-level programs in the second week, and village-level initiatives in the third week. Special promotional activities are also organized in approximately 100 tourist areas across the state.

In a remarkable achievement ahead of International Yoga Day, Andhra Pradesh secured global recognition for its innovative "Floating Yoga" event on the Krishna River in Vijayawada. Organized as part of the state's YogAndhra 2025 campaign on June 11, the event featured over a thousand yoga practitioners performing asanas on 200 watercraft, including kayaks, jet skis, punts, sand boats, and floating platforms.

Union Minister of State for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, has lauded the Andhra Pradesh government and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for launching the "YogaAndhra" campaign. This initiative aims to cultivate a community of 10 lakh regular yoga practitioners across the state. The Ayush Ministry has also commended Andhra Pradesh's grassroots-driven approach, noting that the state's efforts reflect the broader spirit of IDY 2025—promoting "Yoga for One Earth, One Health."

With its large-scale preparations, focus on unity and wellness, and attempt to set world records, Andhra Pradesh is poised to host a truly memorable International Yoga Day event, reinforcing yoga's importance in promoting holistic well-being and global harmony.
