A tragic incident has left a Noida family mourning the loss of a 59-year-old man who died in an early morning car accident on the Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) Flyway. Rakesh Arora, a resident of Harima Vihar in Noida, was on his way to Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) to catch a flight to Bangalore for a business meeting when the accident occurred. According to his family, the Uber cab driver allegedly fell asleep at the wheel, causing the car to collide with a stationary truck.

The incident occurred around 4:00 AM on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Arora had booked the Uber from his residence to IGI Airport. The family alleges that the driver’s negligence led to the fatal collision. The family is raising serious questions about Uber’s responsibility, focusing on driver fatigue and crisis response. They claim that neither Uber nor emergency services contacted them after the crash, and they were left to find out about the accident on their own.

Shriti, a family member, expressed the family's grief and frustration. "He was going to the airport to take a flight to Bangalore, he had a meeting there," she said. "Instead, we found him in a crashed cab. And no one — not even the company we trusted for his ride — cared."

The family is demanding answers and accountability from Uber. They are questioning the company's policies regarding driver fatigue and the measures in place to ensure the safety of passengers. They also highlight the lack of communication and support from Uber in the aftermath of the accident.

Authorities have yet to confirm whether the driver's version of events is being investigated in light of the family's evidence. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. The driver has been arrested.

This incident highlights the critical issue of driver fatigue in the transportation industry and the potential consequences of such negligence. It also raises concerns about the responsibility of ride-hailing companies to ensure the safety and well-being of their passengers. The family hopes that their loss will lead to stricter regulations and better safety measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

The incident is a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to prioritize alertness and caution while driving. It also underscores the importance of corporate responsibility and the need for companies to be accountable for the actions of their employees and the safety of their customers.
