Modi conveyed these concerns to Pezeshkian during their conversation, emphasizing the need for peaceful resolutions. "Spoke with President of Iran @drpezeshkian. We discussed in detail about the current situation. Expressed deep concern at the recent escalations. Reiterated our call for immediate de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward and for early restoration of regional peace, security and stability," Modi shared in a post on X.
The call for de-escalation comes in the wake of heightened military actions, including US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities at Isfahan, Fordow, and Natanz. These strikes, described by US President Donald Trump as a "spectacular military success," have further inflamed the already volatile situation. Iran, while confirming the attacks, has stated that no radiation was released as a result, according to its National Nuclear Safety System Centre.
