Shardul Thakur's first over was described as ordinary, and Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj struggled with control and consistency. This lack of pressure from the other end allowed England's batsmen, particularly Ollie Pope and Ben Duckett, to build partnerships and put India on the back foot. Pope went on to score an impressive century, further compounding India's woes.

The cameras caught Bumrah in a lively discussion with Gautam Gambhir during the 40th over of England's innings, while Shardul Thakur was bowling. The conversation appeared intense, with Bumrah seemingly expressing his dissatisfaction with the way things were unfolding. While the exact details of the discussion remain unknown, it's likely that Bumrah was sharing his insights and suggestions with the coach, given his experience and understanding of the conditions.
