A major cyber fraud operation has been busted in Rajasthan, leading to the arrest of the mastermind behind a scam that allegedly defrauded thousands of people through deceptive phone calls. The accused was apprehended in Rajasthan, and authorities report that approximately Rs 99 crore has been found in associated bank accounts.

The investigation is still ongoing, but preliminary reports suggest the fraud involved enticing victims with false promises and schemes, likely related to investments or online services. The victims were then swindled out of their money through sophisticated methods. The details of the specific scam tactics employed are still emerging as investigators delve deeper into the case.

Law enforcement agencies tracked the accused across multiple locations, using advanced surveillance techniques to pinpoint his whereabouts. The arrest marks a significant victory for cybercrime authorities, who have been working diligently to combat the rise in online financial fraud.

The investigation revealed the use of shell companies and fake documentation to hide the illicit proceeds. The accused reportedly engaged chartered accountants to provide a veneer of legality to the operations. This intricate network made it difficult for authorities to initially trace the funds and identify the key individuals involved.

This bust is the latest in a series of cybercrime crackdowns in Rajasthan. In May 2025, Bharatpur Range Police uncovered a cyberfraud gang that swindled more than Rs 400 crore through fake online gaming and investment schemes. In December 2024, Rajasthan police busted a cyber fraud gang involved in scams worth over Rs 10 crore across 16 states, arresting two individuals, including a doctor and the director of a fake firm, from Dholpur district. Also in January 2025, police dismantled two cybercrime gangs, arresting 15 people involved in schemes targeting e-mitra operators and illegal online betting platforms, exposing transactions worth crores of rupees.

The police are working to identify and apprehend all individuals connected to this cyber fraud operation. Authorities are also coordinating with financial institutions to freeze assets and recover funds for the victims. The investigation is expected to reveal more details about the extent of the fraud and the methods used to deceive the victims.

This case underscores the importance of public awareness and vigilance in protecting against cyber fraud. Law enforcement officials advise individuals to be cautious of unsolicited calls or online offers that seem too good to be true. It is crucial to verify the legitimacy of investment opportunities and financial services before committing any funds. If you believe you have been a victim of cyber fraud, it is essential to report the incident to the appropriate authorities immediately.
