Fuel prices are on the rise again, impacting consumers across the nation. As of June 24, 2025, several factors have contributed to these changes, from international conflicts to adjustments in taxes and dealer margins. Here’s a breakdown of what you need to know about the latest petrol and diesel rates in various cities.

Several petroleum firms have announced a significant hike in fuel prices, which will be implemented in two phases. The first phase began on June 24, 2025, at 6:00 AM, with an increase of ₹1.75 per liter for gasoline, ₹2.60 per liter for diesel, and ₹2.40 per liter for kerosene. A subsequent increase of the same amounts is scheduled for June 26, 2025. This translates to a total increase of ₹3.50 per liter for gasoline, ₹5.20 per liter for diesel, and ₹4.80 per liter for kerosene over the course of the week.

These price hikes are attributed to global supply concerns exacerbated by the escalating conflict between Israel, Iran, and the United States. Tensions in the Middle East have led to fears of disruptions in oil supply, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil transport. The United States' recent air strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities have further heightened these concerns, causing a surge in oil prices and impacting Asian markets.

Here’s a city-wise look at the petrol and diesel prices as of today:

  • Mumbai: Petrol prices in Mumbai are currently at ₹103.50 per liter.
  • Delhi: Petrol rates in Delhi stand at ₹94.72 per liter.
  • Chennai: In Chennai, the petrol price is ₹100.85 per liter, with no change from the previous day.
  • Kolkata: Petrol price in Kolkata is ₹104.95 per liter.
  • Bid (Maharashtra): Petrol is priced at ₹105.50 per liter, remaining unchanged for the past six days.

It's worth noting that fuel prices vary across states due to differences in state taxes and other factors. As of now, Andaman & Nicobar (South Andaman) have the lowest petrol price in India at ₹82.46 per liter, while Andhra Pradesh (Chittoor) has the highest petrol price at ₹110.34 per liter.

The Department of Energy (DOE) has suggested measures to mitigate the impact of rising oil prices. These include voluntary discounts for Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs), implementing work-from-home arrangements and flexible working hours, and promoting the use of electric vehicles.

Consumers are advised to stay informed about these price fluctuations and plan their fuel consumption accordingly. Keeping track of daily price revisions, which occur at 6:00 AM, can help in making informed decisions about when and where to refuel.
