Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi is back on the sets of They Call Him OG, a Telugu film starring Pawan Kalyan, after successfully recovering from dengue. The actor was diagnosed with the viral illness on May 28, 2025, and took a break from shooting to recuperate.

Hashmi confirmed his return to the film set in Mumbai this week, expressing his gratitude to fans for their support. "I am back in action, and it feels good! I took some time off to recover from dengue, but now I am fully recovered and back on set," he stated. "A big thank you to everyone for all the love and thoughtful messages! I am excited to get back to the hustle and bring something exciting to the screen soon.”

They Call Him OG, directed by Sujeeth of Saaho fame, marks Hashmi's Telugu debut, where he plays a significant role alongside Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan, who also serves as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. The film is produced by DVV Danayya and Kalyan Dasari under the DVV Entertainments banner.

The film is slated to be released on September 25, 2025. DVV Entertainment announced the release date on X, stating, "FIRING WORLDWIDE in cinemas on 25th September 2025… #OGonSept25".

They Call Him OG is described as a gangster action drama with a blend of stylized action and raw emotion. The film also stars Priyanka Arul Mohan as the female lead, with Sriya Reddy and Prakash Raj in supporting roles. S Thaman is composing the music for the film, and the cinematography is by Manoj Paramahamsa, who replaced Ravi K Chandran.

Action choreographer Kevin Kumar has shared updates about the film, revealing that a raw and stylish intro action sequence featuring Pawan Kalyan has been completed in Vijayawada.

Initially scheduled for release on September 27 of the previous year, the film faced delays due to Pawan Kalyan's busy schedule and other production setbacks. With Hashmi's return and production back on track, the team is now gearing up for the final stages of shooting.
