In a swift response to a distressing situation, the Punjab Police have rescued a youth from Uttarakhand who was allegedly forced to work in exploitative conditions at a cowshed in Punjab. The rescue operation was initiated following the intervention of BJP MP Anil Baluni, who brought the matter to the attention of Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria.
The rescued youth, who hails from the Narayanbagad region in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, had reportedly been working as a bonded laborer at a cowshed in Dinewal village of Punjab's Tarn Taran district for over 15 years. The case came to light after a video went viral on social media, depicting the youth tending to cattle under what appeared to be exploitative circumstances.
Upon seeing the video, Baluni, who represents Garhwal in Uttarakhand and also serves as the BJP's chief spokesperson, immediately contacted Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, seeking his urgent intervention. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Governor Kataria promptly directed Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav to take immediate action.
DGP Yadav mobilized the Tarn Taran district police, who swiftly located the victim and rescued him from the custody of the cowshed owner. The police have registered a case against the owner, and efforts are underway to ensure the rescued youth is safely returned to his native village in Narayanbagad.
Baluni expressed his gratitude to Governor Kataria for his swift and decisive action, stating that the rescue was made possible by his intervention and the prompt response of the Punjab Police. He emphasized that such compassionate leadership strengthens people's faith in justice and provides hope to the vulnerable. Governor Kataria also acknowledged the efforts of the police team involved in the rescue and thanked Baluni for bringing the matter to his attention and playing a crucial role in the operation.
