The entertainment industry is mourning the sudden death of actress Shefali Jariwala, who passed away on Friday at the age of 42 after suffering a cardiac arrest. As tributes pour in from fans and colleagues, her ex-husband, Harmeet Singh of Meet Bros fame, has shared an emotional message regarding her untimely demise and his inability to attend her last rites.
Harmeet Singh, currently in Europe, expressed his deep sorrow in an Instagram post. "One of the most shocking moments of my life. I'm absolutely shattered and in disbelief after hearing about Shefali's sudden and untimely demise," he wrote. He reminisced about their time together, stating, "We shared a few beautiful years together a long time ago—memories I'll always hold close to my heart". He extended his condolences to Shefali's parents, Satish and Sunita, her husband Parag Tyagi, and her sister Shivani. "Being away in Europe right now, it's painful for me not to be there for the last rites," he added. He concluded his message with a prayer for her soul to rest in peace and strength for her family during this difficult time.
Manmeet Singh, Harmeet's brother and the other half of Meet Bros, also shared a tribute on social media. He posted a photo of Shefali on his Instagram story, writing, "Rest in peace Shef. Only God knows why he called you back so soon.. Will always cherish the amazing moments spent with you.. May Waheguru be with you on your onward journey".
Shefali Jariwala rose to fame in 2002 with the hit music video "Kaanta Laga," which made her an overnight star. She went on to appear in films like "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi" and participated in reality shows such as "Nach Baliye" and "Bigg Boss 13". Her participation in Bigg Boss 13 drew attention, especially considering her past relationship with fellow contestant Sidharth Shukla.
Before marrying Parag Tyagi in 2014, Shefali was married to Harmeet Singh. They tied the knot in 2004 but divorced in 2009. According to reports, Shefali had filed an FIR against Harmeet, accusing him of domestic abuse and withdrawing money from their joint account without her consent. She had spoken about her first marriage with Times Now, "It is very important to understand that you are not being appreciated. Not every kind of violence is physical. There is a lot of mental violence that also happens and you are very unhappy in your life".
Shefali met Parag Tyagi at a friend's party and, after a period of courtship, they married in 2014. Their bond deepened when Shefali supported Parag during his father's health crisis.
The last rites for Shefali Jariwala were performed on Saturday in Mumbai. Her husband, Parag Tyagi, father Satish Jariwala, and sister Shivani Jariwala performed the rituals at the Oshiwara Hindu crematorium. Several celebrities, including Mika Singh, Aarti Singh, and Mahira Sharma, were present to pay their final respects.
