The decomposed bodies of an 18-year-old Pakistani man and a 15-year-old girl were discovered approximately 12 kilometers inside Indian territory, in the Sadhewala area of Jaisalmer district on Saturday evening. The discovery was made by villagers from Sadhewala on the sandy dunes.

The bodies appeared to be four to five days old, with significant blackening and drying. Pakistani mobile SIM cards and ID cards found on their persons confirmed their Pakistani nationality. Authorities suspect that the pair died of hunger and thirst.

High-ranking police and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel arrived at the scene, and the bodies were transported to the Ramgarh mortuary for a post-mortem examination to determine the precise cause of death. It remains unclear whether the two individuals crossed over from Pakistan or had already been in India.

According to an official source who requested anonymity, a shepherd from Gajesingh's village reported seeing the bodies on the dunes to the Tanot police station on Friday. The police then informed the BSF, and officers from both forces initiated investigations. The young man was identified as Ravi Kumar, 18, and the girl as Shanti, 15, based on the identity documents found.

BSF IG ML Garg stated that a search operation is underway along the border area. However, as of now, no evidence or footprints of crossing from the Pakistani side have been found. The BSF is also in contact with the Foreigners Registration Officer for further information.

Jaisalmer Police have indicated that security agencies are investigating the case from multiple angles, including the possibility of a love affair or a conspiracy.
