A disturbing case has emerged in Uttar Pradesh, involving the alleged abduction of a minor Dalit girl from Prayagraj. The girl was reportedly taken to Kerala with the intention of forcibly converting her religion and potentially involving her in "jihadi terror activities".
According to police reports, the abduction unfolded over approximately two weeks. The girl was allegedly lured under false pretenses and transported to Kerala. Investigations have led to the arrest of two young men from Prayagraj who are believed to be directly involved in the abduction. Authorities have also identified additional suspects linked to a "Kerala module" and have deployed teams to apprehend them.
Senior police officer Ajay Pal Sharma confirmed that the girl is a minor and belongs to the Dalit community. Sharma stated that the girl was "misled and taken to Kerala for religious conversion". He anticipates further breakthroughs in the case as the investigation progresses. The case came to light after the girl's family filed a police complaint, alleging harassment and manipulation by a Muslim youth prior to her disappearance. An FIR has been registered, and a comprehensive investigation is currently underway.
Authorities suspect that this case might be part of a larger network involved in conversion and radicalization. They are working to uncover the full extent of the network. Police have indicated that more arrests and significant disclosures are expected in the coming days.
The incident has sparked outrage and panic in the region. Concerns about the targeting of young girls for conversion and potential involvement in extremist activities have been raised. Similar cases in the past have prompted calls for investigation by national agencies. For example, in 2018, the National Scheduled Castes Commission (NCSC) requested the Home Ministry to involve the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in cases involving the abduction of minor Dalit girls, expressing concerns about potential trafficking and use by terror organizations.
