Currently, he serves as the State General Secretary of the BJP. Madhav's political lineage also plays a significant role, as he is the son of the late PV Chalapathi Rao, a BJP veteran and former MLC who worked to strengthen the party in coastal Andhra Pradesh. Chalapathi Rao also served as the BJP state unit chief in the past.
Madhav's selection as the Andhra Pradesh BJP chief underscores the party's preference for leaders with a strong organizational background and a deep understanding of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideology.
