The sudden death of actress Shefali Jariwala on June 27, 2025, at the age of 42, has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry. Known for her iconic "Kaanta Laga" music video from 2002 and appearances on reality shows like Bigg Boss 13 and Nach Baliye, Jariwala’s untimely demise has prompted a police investigation, with her husband, Parag Tyagi, being questioned.
According to reports, Shefali Jariwala was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai by her husband after collapsing at their residence. She was declared dead on arrival, with initial reports suggesting a cardiac arrest. The Mumbai Police subsequently sent her body for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
Following Shefali's death, her close friend, actress Pooja Ghai, shared details about the events that unfolded. Ghai revealed that Parag Tyagi was questioned by the police in the immediate aftermath of his wife's death. "The good part is that there was no foul play," Ghai stated, emphasizing that the autopsy confirmed the same. She further explained that her primary concern was for Parag, who was grieving and naturally wanted to be left alone, but was instead being cross-examined by the police. Ghai expressed relief that the report indicated no foul play, allowing Parag to grieve without the added stress of a prolonged investigation.
Pooja Ghai also shared insights into Shefali's activities on the day of her death. She mentioned that Shefali had taken a vitamin C IV drip earlier in the day. The police questioned the provider who administered the IV drip to verify the medication involved. Additionally, reports suggest that Shefali had been undergoing anti-aging treatments, including glutathione infusions, for several years. On the day of her death, she had reportedly fasted for a religious ritual but continued with her medication.
The police investigation is currently ongoing, with authorities exploring potential links between Shefali's medical history, the treatments she received, and the cardiac arrest. While preliminary findings suggest a possible cardiac arrest, investigators are awaiting toxicology and histopathology reports for a conclusive determination. Blood and viscera samples have been sent to the Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory for detailed analysis.
Meanwhile, Parag Tyagi has been mourning the loss of his wife. He was seen at her final rites at the Oshiwara crematorium, where he was visibly emotional. He requested privacy and prayers for his "pari".
