Bimal Lakra, a former Indian hockey player and a member of the 2002 Asian Games silver medal-winning team, has been hospitalized in Ranchi after suffering a serious head injury. The 45-year-old former midfielder collapsed on Monday while working on his farmland in his village in the Simdega subdivision.

Lakra was immediately taken to a local hospital in Kurdeg for initial treatment. He was then referred to Simdega Sadar Hospital, where a CT scan revealed a blood clot in his head. Due to the severity of his condition, doctors advised that he be transferred to Ranchi for more specialized care. He is currently admitted to Curesta Hospital in Ranchi.

According to Hockey Jharkhand Vice President Manoj Konbegi, Lakra was found unconscious in the field near his native village of Tansar in the Simdega district.

Bhola Nath Singh, the secretary-general of Hockey India, stated that Lakra is now in stable condition. He also mentioned that the Sports Minister of Jharkhand visited Lakra in the hospital and assured him of all possible support. Hockey India has also expressed their support for Lakra’s speedy recovery. Furthermore, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has instructed officials to ensure Lakra receives comprehensive treatment.
