The Los Angeles Kings have signed goaltender Anton Forsberg to a two-year contract with an average annual value of $2.25 million. This move aims to bolster their goaltending depth behind Darcy Kuemper. The announcement was made on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

Forsberg, 32, spent the previous five seasons with the Ottawa Senators. Last season, he recorded an 11-12-3 record in 30 games, along with a 2.72 goals-against average (GAA) and a .901 save percentage (SV%), also achieving three shutouts. Throughout his NHL career, Forsberg has played 190 games, posting a 74-81-14 record with a 3.04 GAA and a .904 SV%. He has also recorded eight career shutouts.

Forsberg was originally drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the seventh round (188th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He has played for the Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks, and Carolina Hurricanes, in addition to the Senators.

The Kings were looking to replace David Rittich, who signed with the New York Islanders. Forsberg's statistics from last season compare favorably to Rittich's. While Rittich posted a .886 save percentage and a 2.84 goals-against average, Forsberg had a .901 save percentage and a 2.72 goals-against average. The Kings hope Forsberg will provide a more reliable backup option to Kuemper.

In his Ottawa career, Forsberg went 62-56-10 with a 2.99 goals against average and .905 save percentage in 142 games, with 132 of them being starts.

The Kings also announced the signings of defensemen Cody Ceci (four years, $4.5 million AAV) and Brian Dumoulin (three years, $4 million AAV).
