The highly anticipated Club World Cup quarter-final clash between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid on Saturday will be missing a key element: the brotherly face-off between Jobe Bellingham and his older brother, Jude. Jobe Bellingham will be unavailable for Dortmund due to a suspension he received after picking up his second yellow card of the tournament.

The unfortunate booking occurred in the 28th minute of Dortmund's Round of 16 match against CF Monterrey, following a challenge on Nelson Deossa. Jobe had previously received a yellow card in the group stage match against Ulsan HD. According to Club World Cup rules, two yellow cards in separate matches result in a one-match suspension, with cards only being wiped clean after the quarter-final stage.

Dortmund secured their place in the quarter-finals with a 2-1 victory over Monterrey, while Real Madrid advanced after defeating Juventus 1-0. The prospect of the Bellingham brothers facing each other on the pitch had generated considerable excitement, making Jobe's suspension a bitter blow for fans and, most notably, the Bellingham family. The match was set to take place at MetLife Stadium.

Dortmund's coach, Niko Kovac, revealed Jobe's disappointment upon learning about the suspension. Kovac noted that Jobe was unaware that the second yellow card would lead to an immediate suspension. To prevent the risk of a red card, Jobe was substituted in the 55th minute of the game against Monterrey. Kovac clarified that the substitution was not due to Jobe's performance but rather to avoid further risk in a physically intense match.

Despite the setback, Kovac expressed optimism about the brothers facing each other in the future, possibly in the Champions League. He stated that while the Club World Cup match would have been a great opportunity, someone else will have to step up in Jobe's absence.

Jobe Bellingham's move to Borussia Dortmund from Sunderland earlier in the summer was seen as a significant step in his career. He quickly became a regular in the team, even scoring his first goal for the club against Mamelodi Sundowns. The potential to play against his brother Jude, who has become a star at Real Madrid, added another layer of excitement to his move.

The suspension is a learning experience for the young midfielder. For Dortmund, it presents a challenge to overcome in a crucial match. While fans will miss out on the sibling rivalry this time, the future remains bright for both Bellingham brothers, with many anticipating future clashes between the two on the biggest stages of football.
