Three Indian shuttlers, Kidambi Srikanth, Shriyanshi Valishetty, and S Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian, delivered impressive performances to advance to the quarterfinals of the Canada Open 2025 in Ontario. The tournament, officially known as the Yonex Canada Open 2025 due to sponsorship, is a Super 300 level event on the BWF World Tour and is being held at the Markham Pan Am Centre from July 1st to 6th, 2025. The event boasts a total prize pool of $240,000.

Kidambi Srikanth, a former world number 1 and a silver medalist at the 2021 World Championships, showcased his experience and skill. He secured a straight-game victory against Chinese Taipei's Wang Po-Wei with a score of 21-19, 21-14 in approximately 40 minutes. Despite trailing in both games, Srikanth demonstrated resilience and determination to come back and win. In the first game, he recovered from 5-11 down at the interval, and in the second, he rallied after trailing 1-6. Srikanth's ability to dig deep and fight for every point proved crucial. Srikanth's next challenge is against top seed Chou Tien-chen of Chinese Taipei. This will be Srikanth's third quarterfinal appearance of the year, with his improved form following a runner-up finish at the Malaysia Masters.

Shriyanshi Valishetty, continued her impressive run at the Canada Open 2025. The 18-year-old secured a straight-game victory over Malaysia's Karupathevan Letshanaa, with a score of 21-15, 21-14. Valishetty will face Denmark's Amalie Schulz in the quarterfinals. In the previous round, Valishetty upset seventh seed Polina Buhrova of Ukraine.

Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian, the 21-year-old, also advanced to the quarterfinals with a dominant performance. Subramanian defeated Chinese Taipei's Huang Yu-Kai in straight games, 21-19, 21-14. Subramanian is set to face third seed Kenta Nishimoto of Japan in the next round. Previously, Subramanian defeated US Open champion Ayush Shetty in the opening round.

These victories ensure a strong Indian presence in the quarterfinals of the Canada Open 2025, with all three players looking to continue their momentum and vie for a spot in the semi-finals.
