Rajinikanth's "Coolie" is maintaining a strong presence at the box office, nearing the ₹250 crore mark in India after its first 10 days. The Lokesh Kanagaraj-directed gangster drama, which was released on August 14, 2025, had generated considerable anticipation.
On its tenth day, which was its second Saturday in theaters, "Coolie" collected ₹9.44 crore, according to Sacnilk. This demonstrates growth from the previous days, with Friday's numbers at ₹5.85 crore and Thursday's numbers at ₹6.15 crore. The film's highest single-day collection was on its opening day, with ₹65 crore. By the end of its first week, "Coolie" had amassed ₹229.65 crore. The total collection after 10 days now stands at ₹244.94 crore, and it is expected to surpass ₹250 crore by the end of its second weekend. In India, the film has grossed over ₹242 crore.
Despite the encouraging figures, the consistent decline in daily earnings indicates that the film's momentum has slowed after a strong start. On its second Saturday, "Coolie" recorded an overall Tamil occupancy of 31.33%, Hindi occupancy of 12.95%, and Telugu occupancy of 21.47%.
Worldwide, "Coolie" has earned ₹469.95 crore, outperforming "War 2". However, the film's mixed reviews and word-of-mouth have tempered initial expectations that it would become the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time.
Despite not reaching its initially projected heights, "Coolie" has still achieved a significant milestone by entering the top 5 highest-grossing Tamil films worldwide. It has surpassed the lifetime collection of Thalapathy Vijay's "The GOAT" (₹457 crores) to become the 5th biggest Tamil grosser of all time. Rajinikanth now has three films in the top 5 Tamil grossers, with "2.0" remaining the highest grosser at around ₹700 crores and "Jailer" in third place with approximately ₹605 crores.
