Chelsea Football Club secured their place in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Brazilian side Palmeiras at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The match, played in front of a vibrant crowd of 65,782, saw Chelsea advance after a late own goal.

Cole Palmer, continuing his impressive form, opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 16th minute. Palmer beat his defender and slotted the ball home. Chelsea dominated the first half, with Palmeiras struggling to contain the Blues' attacks. Christopher Nkunku had an opportunity to increase Chelsea's lead, but his effort went over the bar. Palmeiras had a chance to equalize before halftime, but Robert Sánchez made a save to deny Vanderlan's header.

Palmeiras started the second half with renewed vigor, and Estêvão, who will join Chelsea this summer, leveled the score in the 53rd minute with a well-taken shot. The Brazilian side grew in confidence and posed a threat to Chelsea's defense.

The game appeared to be heading towards extra time as the clock ticked down. However, in the 83rd minute, Chelsea regained the lead in a somewhat fortunate manner. Malo Gusto's cross was deflected by Palmeiras defender Agustín Giay and goalkeeper Weverton into the net. The goal was eventually credited as an own goal. Despite a late attempt by Noni Madueke, which hit the post, Chelsea held on to secure the win.

Chelsea will now face another Brazilian side, Fluminense, in the semi-finals. Fluminense defeated Al Hilal 2-1 in their quarterfinal match. The victory over Palmeiras marked the end of the Brazilian side's unbeaten run in the competition.

Cole Palmer was named Man of the Match for his performance. The match was played in a lively atmosphere, with a significant number of Palmeiras fans providing constant support for their team. The attendance was particularly impressive considering other events in Philadelphia, including a strike by city workers and a concert.
