The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 is underway in the United States, and a quarterfinal match between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Bayern Munich is set to take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on July 5. The winner of the match will advance to the semi-finals to face either Real Madrid or Borussia Dortmund.

PSG enters the match fresh off winning their first UEFA Champions League title, as well as the French league and cup. In the Club World Cup, PSG progressed from the group stage with wins against Atletico Madrid and Seattle Sounders, despite losing to Botafogo. They then defeated Inter Miami 4-0 in the round of 16, with Joao Neves scoring twice. PSG is looking to add a Club World Cup title to their recent successes.

Bayern Munich advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Flamengo 4-2 in the round of 16, with Harry Kane scoring twice. Bayern had previously finished second in their group after a surprising loss to Benfica. They are aiming to win their third Club World Cup title.

PSG and Bayern Munich are familiar foes, having clashed several times in the Champions League over the past five years. Bayern has won 5 of the last 6 encounters, including a 1-0 victory in the 2024/25 Champions League. However, PSG has evolved into a top team in Europe, with a high-quality and united squad under the leadership of Luis Enrique.

Several factors could influence the outcome of the match. PSG boasts the highest average possession (72%) and the fewest goals conceded (1) in the tournament. Bayern, however, has been scoring frequently, netting 16 goals in the competition. Injuries to key defenders like Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito could pose a challenge for Bayern. Ousmane Dembélé recently returned from a thigh injury for PSG.

Leading up to this quarterfinal match, PSG has demonstrated dominant form, including a 5-0 victory over Inter Milan to win the Champions League and a 4-0 victory over Atletico Madrid in the opening match of the FIFA Club World Cup. They also replicated the 4-0 score against Lionel Messi's Inter Miami in the round of 16. Bayern Munich beat Flamengo 4-2, showcasing their attacking strength.

Both teams have strengths that could lead them to victory. PSG's ball control and strong defense, combined with Bayern's attacking prowess, sets the stage for a competitive quarterfinal match.
