Khloe Kardashian is opening up about how her past experiences, particularly her divorce from Lamar Odom, helped her navigate the challenges of Tristan Thompson's infidelity. In a recent episode of her podcast "Khloe in Wonderland," she reflected on how the public nature of her divorce from Odom served as a "stepping stone" that prepared her for the "traumatic" cheating scandal with Thompson, which occurred while she was pregnant with their daughter, True.
Kardashian, 41, married Odom in 2009, and their divorce was finalized in 2016. The reality star filed for divorce in 2013, citing substance abuse and infidelity issues. Kardashian described her divorce from Odom as a very public ordeal, something she had never experienced before. She emphasized the importance of her family's support during that difficult time.
In 2016, Kardashian began dating Tristan Thompson. In 2018, while nine months pregnant with their daughter, True, Kardashian faced another personal crisis when Thompson cheated on her. The infidelity became public, adding to the already stressful situation. Kardashian explained that the experience of going through a public divorce with Odom helped her develop coping skills to deal with Thompson's betrayal.
Kardashian admitted that "obviously no one can prepare you for something like that". She noted that it wasn't just the cheating itself, but the fact that it occurred when she was nine months pregnant and was so public. She believes she handled the situation as best as she could because of the "experience" she gained from her divorce with Odom.
Despite the pain and public scrutiny, Kardashian was able to have Thompson in the delivery room. She explained that she wanted her daughter to have "pure and perfect" home videos, regardless of the circumstances. Kardashian said, "I still think he's a great guy, and he's a great dad. He's just not the guy for me".
Kardashian and Thompson have had an on-again-off-again relationship marked by multiple cheating scandals. In 2019, Thompson kissed Jordyn Woods, a close friend of Kylie Jenner, which caused significant drama within the Kardashian family. Despite the challenges, Kardashian and Thompson reconciled and had a son, Tatum, via surrogate in August 2022.
Looking back, Kardashian feels that everything that has happened in her life has been meant to happen, even the negative experiences. She believes that these experiences have prepared her for future challenges and made her stronger. Kardashian said she is "proud" of how she has handled her "traumatic" experiences. She stated, "Everything prepared me for each experience in my life, and I think when you overcome those experiences, you feel really strong".
