The India vs. England second Test at Edgbaston is poised for a thrilling Day 4, but the weather forecast suggests that rain could play a significant role. India, led by Shubman Gill, currently holds a 244-run lead with nine wickets in hand, putting them in a strong position to level the series.

On Day 3, India capitalized on the second new ball, with Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep dismantling England's momentum after a massive 303-run partnership between Jamie Smith and Harry Brook. Siraj finished with excellent figures of 6 for 70, while Akash Deep took 4 wickets. India ended Day 3 at 64/1.

Several weather forecasts predict rain interruptions on Day 4. AccuWeather forecasts a high chance of rain throughout the day, while BBC Weather predicts light cloud cover and a lower chance of rain during the start of play. Google Weather predicts light rain with a 20% probability. Play may be interrupted with at least 2.5 hours of precipitation expected.

Despite the looming threat of rain, India will be aiming to set a massive fourth-innings target for England. KL Rahul (28) and Karun Nair (7) are at the crease. India's batting in the third innings has been outstanding recently, scoring at 4.1 runs per over with an average of 41.7.

England will look to Shoaib Bashir to play a significant role on Day 4. He has taken eight wickets in the Test so far.

The Edgbaston pitch has favored batting, with a good run rate. Since 2021, the run rate in Birmingham has been 3.8 runs per over, with an average of 31.9.

The match is currently well-poised, and the weather will likely have a crucial impact on the final outcome. If India can bat positively and set a target of around 300, they will fancy their chances. However, if the rain washes out a significant portion of the day's play, a draw could become the most likely result.

The second Test is part of the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. England won the first Test by five wickets.
