A video of an Indian-American man repeatedly using a racial slur against a Black woman at a restaurant in Dallas, Texas, has gone viral, sparking outrage and condemnation on social media. The man, identified as Stanley Thomas, was filmed at Moxie's, an eatery in the Uptown neighborhood, where he was seen directing the N-word at the woman.
In the video, Thomas unapologetically admitted to using the slur frequently. When confronted, he defiantly stated, "I say the N-word all the time," even offering to demonstrate different pronunciations of the word, emphasizing the "r" ending. He responded to the woman's warning that the video would go viral with a thumbs-up, saying he was "proud" and revealing his name as Stanley Thomas.
Thomas attempted to justify his behavior by claiming to be "20 percent Black" and referencing the Siddi people, an ethnic group in India with African roots. The woman filming sarcastically offered to AirDrop the video to him so he could share it with his "fellow Indian friends and tell them how you said the N-word all the time, and you're 20% Black".
The video was initially shared on X by the account 'I Expose Racists and Pedos'. Social media users quickly identified a Facebook profile allegedly belonging to Thomas, which stated he was a senior business analyst at Christus Health, a Catholic healthcare nonprofit based in Texas. However, Christus Health swiftly denied any association with Thomas, stating that he is not an employee and that the organization does not condone his behavior.
The incident has drawn widespread criticism online, with many condemning Thomas's use of racist language. Some users expressed disappointment, noting that while some individuals of Indian origin are celebrated, others are tarnishing the community's reputation. Others criticized Thomas's audacity, suggesting he was emboldened by the fact that he was being recorded by a woman. The incident also sparked conversations about racism and xenophobia.
