Humaira Asghar's Death: Petition Claims Murder, Introducing New Evidence and Developments in the Case.

The death of Pakistani actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali has taken a dramatic turn, with a citizen's petition alleging murder and prompting a more intense police investigation. The 32-year-old actress was found dead in her locked Karachi apartment in Defence Phase VI on July 8, 2025. Her decomposed body was discovered after a court-mandated eviction operation due to months of unpaid rent.

Initially, the investigation leaned towards a natural or accidental death. However, a petition filed by a citizen, Shahzaib Sohail, in Karachi's City Court, has cast a shadow of suspicion over the circumstances surrounding her demise. The petition asserts that Humaira was murdered and requests the inclusion of her family in the inquiry. Sohail cited video evidence from the scene and Humaira's strained family ties, questioning why no family member had come forward to claim the body. He also pointed to the lack of social media activity in recent months. The court has since directed the police to treat the matter as a potential criminal case.

Police have formed a special investigation team to further investigate the case. The team has recovered and unlocked three mobile phones and a tablet belonging to Humaira, using passwords found in her personal diary. They are currently analyzing chat logs, call logs, and other data from these devices to trace her interactions during her final months. However, her laptop remains inaccessible, which could delay key findings. Authorities have also initiated a forensic audit of her bank accounts to identify any irregular financial activity that might hint at foul play.

Investigators have recorded statements from two acquaintances of the actress and have summoned the building's watchman and cleaning staff for questioning. In the coming days, police plan to interview Humaira's gym trainer and employees of a beauty salon she frequented. This is part of the effort to reconstruct her life leading up to her death and map her recent interactions to identify any foul play or suspicious behavior.

Adding to the mystery, Humaira's family has not yet contacted the police about legal or burial arrangements. According to police, Humaira's last post on social media was in September 2024, and her phone records show no activity after October 4, 2024. She had stopped paying rent in early 2024, prompting the landlord to file for eviction. The apartment was locked from the inside, and there were no signs of forced entry.

Another complaint was lodged through the Prime Minister's Portal by Karachi resident Dr. Syeda Kainat, terming Humaira's death a premeditated conspiracy. The complaint alleged that Humaira had been under pressure due to her links with powerful individuals and was forcibly given alcohol and methamphetamine. According to the complaint, more than eight months had passed since her death, during which time she had reportedly lost contact with close acquaintances. Police say this complaint lacks concrete evidence or named suspects.

The investigation is ongoing, with police thoroughly examining all available evidence to determine the true cause of Humaira Asghar Ali's death.
