Ladakh Kavinder Gupta, a senior leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, has been named the new Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. Gupta's appointment follows the resignation of Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) from the position. Gupta has previously served as Speaker of the J&K Legislative Assembly and as Deputy CM during the PDP-BJP coalition government. The President of India accepted the resignation of BD Mishra.
