Aamir Khan, the Bollywood superstar, has once again opened up about his views on marriage, divorce, and relationships, offering a candid perspective on his personal experiences. As he promotes his upcoming film "Sitaare Zameen Par," the actor, who turned 60 in March, has been increasingly transparent about his life, including his past marriages and his current relationship with Gauri Spratt.
Khan has been married twice, first to Reena Dutta, and later to Kiran Rao. Both marriages ended in divorce. He has two children, Junaid and Ira Khan, with Reena Dutta, and a son, Azad Rao Khan, with Kiran Rao. Despite the end of his marriages, Aamir Khan maintains cordial relationships with both of his ex-wives. Kiran Rao has emphasized the amicable nature of their separation, stating that they remain close friends, collaborators, and co-parents. She fondly speaks of her continued bond with Aamir's mother and considers his children her own friends.
In a recent interview with Zoom, Aamir Khan shared his thoughts on marriage and divorce, admitting that he considers himself more successful at divorce than marriage. He stated, "Shaadi me main kamyab nahi hua hun, lekin divorce me main hua hoon (I wasn't successful in marriage, but I've been successful in divorce)." He explained that his family was not happy with his divorces, but circumstances led him to believe that his relationships with his former wives had changed. He emphasized the importance of honesty and not pretending to be happy in a marriage if that is not the reality. "My thinking is that I could either lie to the world and pretend that everything is fine between Kiran and me, that we are very happy and still married, but I haven't succeeded in marriage; I've succeeded in divorce.”
Aamir Khan's recent comments come after he introduced his girlfriend, Gauri Spratt, to the media on his 60th birthday. Although he has been open about his relationship with Gauri, he has not yet clarified his thoughts on marriage with her. When questioned about the possibility of marrying Gauri, Aamir responded, "Par ab 60 saalki shaadi shayad mujhe shobha nahi degi (Marriage at 60 might not fit me). Still, let us see." This has led to speculation about whether he might consider marriage again. Some sources suggest that Aamir and Gauri might surprise everyone with a wedding announcement before the end of the year, possibly during a private family get-together planned for December 2025 in Mumbai.
Reflecting on his first marriage to Reena Dutta, Aamir acknowledged that they married young and perhaps in haste. He shared that they only knew each other for four months before marrying. However, he does not regret the marriage, as he found a lifelong friend in Reena and had two children with her. "Meri Reena ke sath zindagi bahot achi kati hai...Reena is an amazing person. We've kind of grown up together. We respect each other, and have a lot of love for each other."
Despite his past experiences, Aamir Khan seems to remain open to the idea of marriage. A close friend has stated that Aamir has always been someone who follows his heart and values emotional connection. Whether he decides to marry again remains to be seen, but his recent comments suggest that he has not ruled out the possibility.
