YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 3 contestant Armaan Malik, along with his two wives, Payal Malik and Kritika Malik, are facing legal scrutiny following allegations of violating the Hindu Marriage Act. The Patiala district court has summoned all three to appear on September 2, 2025, in response to a petition filed by Davinder Rajput.
The petition alleges that Armaan Malik has entered into multiple marriages, specifically four, which contravenes the Hindu Marriage Act that permits only one legal marriage at a time for individuals practicing Hinduism. If proven, this would constitute bigamy, a punishable offense under Indian law. Armaan Malik married Payal in 2011 and then married Kritika in 2018 without divorcing Payal.
In addition to the bigamy charges, the petition also accuses Armaan and Payal of hurting religious sentiments. This accusation stems from a video posted on Instagram in which Payal was dressed as the Hindu goddess Kali, which sparked outrage and was deemed disrespectful and offensive by many. The petitioner argues that this act insulted religious beliefs and is a punishable offense under Indian law.
Following the backlash from the video, Armaan and Payal Malik took steps to publicly apologize. On July 22, 2025, they visited the Kali Mata Temple in Patiala to offer prayers and seek forgiveness. The next day, Payal reportedly began a seven-day religious penance at another Kali temple in Kharar, Mohali. Her penance included cleaning the temple premises and performing traditional rituals as an act of repentance. Subsequently, the couple traveled to Haridwar, where they sought blessings and further forgiveness from Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Kailashanand Giri of the Niranjani Akhara. During this period, Payal's health deteriorated, and she was hospitalized in Mohali.
Armaan Malik, whose real name is Sandeep Malik, gained initial recognition through Bigg Boss OTT 3, where he appeared alongside both of his wives. His unconventional family arrangement has drawn significant attention and sparked widespread conversations. Armaan has four children: a son, Chirayu, and twins, Ayaan and Tuba, with his first wife, Payal Malik, and a son, Zaid, with his second wife, Kritika Malik. In late 2024, rumors circulated about Armaan Malik allegedly having a fourth wife, Laksh, who is the family's caretaker, manager, and nanny for the children.
The court's examination will determine whether the marriages violated the Hindu Marriage Act and whether the charges of bigamy and religious offense are valid. The next court hearing is scheduled for September 2, 2025, and the outcome of the case could have serious legal and social implications for Armaan and his wives.
