Anita Hassanandani is expressing her excitement about the return of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, hoping it will usher in a new era for television. The iconic show, which originally aired from 2000 to 2008, is making a comeback on Star Plus on July 29, 2025, at 10:30 pm, the same time slot as the original series.

Hassanandani, who has been a part of numerous projects helmed by Ekta Kapoor, shared her reaction to the return of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi season 2. She stated that television needs a reset and that the return of Kyunki could be the catalyst for that revival. "I am really proud of Kyunki coming back," Anita shared. "I am just hoping that with Kyunki coming back, even the phase that was there with the show comes back. Television needs a reset; it needs to revive. We have made some great shows like Kasautii, Kavyanjali and all. I just hope that TV bounces back like it used to be".

Anita also fondly recalled the days when Kyunki, Kasautii, Kavyanjali, and other shows aired and had integration episodes. She reminisced about the cast and crew eating meals together like a family and enjoying each other's company. "There are very fond memories of those days, we all used to sit together to have our meals like a family. We all enjoyed together". She expressed her desire to reunite with the same cast and do the same show together, stating she would love to play all the characters she has played before and is very proud of it.

Ekta Kapoor, the creator of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, initially hesitated to bring the show back. She felt that nostalgia is supreme and cannot be competed with. However, after conversations with the creative and network teams, she realized that Kyunki had an unfinished story and the power to shape thought, reflect society, and spark dialogue.

Kapoor questioned whether they could return to storytelling that challenges mindsets and opens up conversations. "Can we bring back the time when a family sat on a dinner table and made conversations?". This led her to decide to bring back the show with limited episodes to celebrate 25 years with an intent to impact, entertain, probe thoughts, and inspire with entertainment, excitement, and heartfelt emotions.

Smriti Irani is also making a comeback as Tulsi Virani in the reboot. She emphasized that returning to the show feels like reuniting with family and is focusing on the emotional connection rather than just appearances. Irani stated that there is no pressure and that what viewers will see on screen is a partnership between her and Ekta. "For us, Kyunki is our legacy," she explained.

The reboot promises emotionally grounded and socially relevant storytelling with a modern lens. The aim is to reignite meaningful storytelling and bring back family storytelling to Indian screens.

Several brands, including Tide, Colgate, and Fortune Chakki Fresh Atta, are backing the show, with ad slots priced higher than usual. The reboot will feature interactive ads, such as quizzes and pause features, to keep viewers engaged.

The return of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is highly anticipated, with fans expressing their excitement on social media. The show's comeback is not just a television event but a cultural moment poised to revive dialogue, question norms, and bring back meaningful family storytelling to Indian screens.
