The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme continues to be a vital source of financial assistance for numerous farmers throughout India. As the country looks towards the release of the 20th installment, here's a breakdown of what farmers need to know.

What is the PM-Kisan Scheme?

Launched in February 2019, the PM-Kisan Yojana is a central sector initiative by the Government of India designed to provide income support to landholding farmer families. The scheme provides ₹6,000 annually to eligible farmers, distributed in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months. The funds are directly transferred to the farmers' bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The goal of the PM-KISAN scheme is to help farmers meet their financial needs for agricultural inputs and other household expenses.

When is the 20th Installment Expected?

As of July 16, 2025, the 20th installment of the PM Kisan Yojana is expected to be released in the last week of July 2025. While some reports suggest a specific date, such as July 18 or July 19-20, it's important to note that the government has not yet made an official announcement. Farmers should regularly check the official PM-Kisan website for the most up-to-date information.

Eligibility Criteria

To receive the 20th installment, farmers must meet certain eligibility requirements:

  • Be an Indian citizen.
  • Own cultivable land with valid records.
  • Have their name registered in official land ownership records.
  • Be actively involved in cultivation, with the land in their name.
  • Possess a valid Aadhaar card and an active bank account linked to it.
  • Complete the eKYC process on the PM Kisan portal.

Certain categories are excluded from the scheme, such as income tax payers, pensioners, and government or public sector employees.

Key Steps to Ensure You Receive the 20th Installment

To ensure timely receipt of the PM-Kisan 20th installment, farmers must complete a few important steps:

  1. Complete eKYC: eKYC is mandatory to receive the next installment. Farmers can complete it online through the PM-Kisan portal.
  2. Link Aadhaar with Bank Account: Linking Aadhaar to your bank account ensures smooth and direct benefit transfers.
  3. Verify Bank Details: Farmers should double-check their bank account details to avoid payment failures.
  4. Resolve Land Issues: Any discrepancies in land records should be cleared to maintain eligibility.
  5. Check Beneficiary Status: Regularly check your beneficiary status on the PM-Kisan portal to track payments and eligibility.

How to Check Your Beneficiary Status

Farmers can check their beneficiary status on the PM-Kisan website by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official website: pmkisan.gov.in.
  2. Under the "Farmers Corner", click on "Beneficiary Status".
  3. Enter your Aadhaar number or account number.
  4. Verify your payment history and eligibility for the 20th installment.

eKYC Process

Completing the eKYC process is crucial for receiving PM-Kisan benefits without interruption. Farmers can complete their eKYC online by:

  1. Visiting the PM-Kisan website and clicking on the "e-KYC" option.
  2. Entering their Aadhaar number and captcha code.
  3. Verifying with the OTP sent to their Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

Previous Installments

The 19th installment was released on February 24, 2025, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi disbursing ₹22,000 crore to over 9.8 crore farmers.

The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana continues to support farmers by providing financial assistance. Farmers are encouraged to complete their eKYC, link their Aadhaar to their bank accounts, and verify their details to ensure they receive the 20th installment without any delays.
