In a disturbing incident echoing the plot of the Bollywood film "Drishyam," a woman in Mumbai's Nalasopara area has been arrested for allegedly murdering her husband with the help of her lover and concealing the body beneath the floor of their home. The crime, which occurred approximately two weeks ago, came to light recently after suspicions arose regarding the husband's disappearance.
The woman, residing in the Gangadipada area of Nalasopara East, reportedly committed the murder within their residence at Sai Welfare Society. Following the act, she buried her husband's body under the floor. In a chilling attempt to further conceal the crime, she then enlisted the help of her brother-in-law, her husband's brother, to tile over the area, unknowingly aiding in the cover-up.
The Pelhar police initiated an investigation after growing suspicions surrounding the husband's death. Both the woman and her lover are currently absconding, and authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend them.
In a similar case from earlier this year, a woman in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested along with her lover for allegedly murdering her husband and concealing his dismembered body in a cement-filled drum. The victim, Saurabh Rajput, had recently returned from working in London. His wife, Muskan Rastogi, and her lover, Sahil Shukla, allegedly sedated Saurabh before stabbing him to death. They then dismembered his body, sealed it in a plastic drum with cement and sand, and hid the drum inside their house. Muskan even went on a vacation to a hill station with Sahil after the murder, sending misleading messages from Saurabh's phone to his sister to avoid suspicion. The crime was uncovered after Muskan's mother approached the police, revealing her daughter's confession. Muskan's father told India Today TV that his daughter confessed to the crime because her husband used to stop her from taking drugs.
Another case from Breckenridge, Texas, saw a woman charged with murder after her ex-husband's body was found hidden under rugs in their carport. Craig Thetford's family had not heard from him since January, prompting an investigation. His wife had claimed he was away fishing with his new girlfriend, but authorities later discovered his remains at their home. The body was wrapped in plastic, blankets, and rugs, and covered in a white powder substance and mothballs. An autopsy revealed that Thetford had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and had likely been dead for several weeks or months.
