A Mercedes-Benz stunt went wrong on Dumas Beach in Surat, Gujarat, resulting in the luxury vehicle getting stuck in the sand. The incident, which occurred on July 21, 2025, gained traction after a video of the stranded car went viral on social media.
The driver reportedly drove the Mercedes onto the beach to perform stunts, ignoring explicit bans and restrictions in place due to safety and environmental concerns. Despite the presence of police officials and regular patrols, the individuals managed to bypass authorities and access the shore. The vehicle became trapped in the soft, marshy sand, particularly as the tide came in and receded, causing it to sink deeper. The video circulating online shows the car half-submerged, highlighting the predicament and the apparent lack of enforcement.
According to local reports, such incidents have become increasingly common, raising questions about the effectiveness of police patrols in the area. Authorities are yet to comment on any action taken against those involved.
In a similar incident, Akshar Shah, a 50-year-old Surat businessman, faced a similar situation when his Mercedes-Benz GLE 350d got stuck in the mud on Dumas Beach. Shah and his wife had gone for an early morning drive on Sunday, but their joyride turned sour when the SUV became stuck and was later marooned by the high tide. Dumas police booked Shah for rash and negligent driving on a public way under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Section 281. ACP Deep Vakil stated that the insurance company would be informed about the incident to prevent the owner from receiving an insurance payout, aiming to teach a lesson to careless drivers.
