Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has declared Anupam Kher's directorial venture, "Tanvi The Great," tax-free in the state. The announcement followed a special screening of the film in Bhopal, which the Chief Minister attended with Anupam Kher and members of the film's cast and crew. Actress Shubhangi Dutt and child artist Viraj Aggarwal were also present during the screening.

"Tanvi The Great," which was released in theaters across the country on July 18, 2025, is produced by Anupam Kher Studio and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC). The film clashed at the box office with "Saiyaara," starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. "Tanvi the Great" has received mixed responses from audiences and critics.

Following the screening, Chief Minister Yadav praised Kher and his team for creating a film with a strong message and purpose. He further stated that the film portrays the struggles, dreams, and determination of an autistic girl, which he believes would inspire people to be more sensitive, humane, and compassionate towards special children. The Chief Minister also congratulated Kher and his team for creating the "wonderful film" and reiterated the state government's commitment to promoting meaningful cinema.

Anupam Kher expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Yadav for the tax exemption. Kher took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank Dr. Mohan Yadav for appreciating the film and recognizing its spirit.

"Tanvi The Great" is the fourth movie to be declared tax-free in Madhya Pradesh by the Dr. Mohan Yadav government. Prior to this, "Chhaava," starring Vicky Kaushal, was declared tax-free. Other films to receive similar tax benefits include "The Sabarmati Report," starring Vikrant Massey and Raashii Khanna, in November 2024, and "Article 370," starring Yami Gautam, eight months prior. In May 2023, the then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had declared "The Kerala Story" tax-free.

The film "Tanvi the Great" follows the journey of Tanvi, a 21-year-old autistic girl, who wishes to follow in her late father's footsteps by joining the army and fulfilling his dream. The film is written by Kher, along with Ankur Suman and Abhishek Dixit, and the soundtrack is composed by M.M. Keeravani. The cast includes Anupam Kher, Shubhangi Dutt, Boman Irani, Arvind Swami, Jackie Shroff, Pallavi Joshi, and Karan Tacker. While the film is currently running in cinemas, it is expected to have an OTT premiere on Netflix, although no official announcement has been made.
