A suspected Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist, Karanvir Singh, has been apprehended in Delhi. He is accused of involvement in a grenade attack in Punjab.

Karanvir Singh has a history of alleged involvement in terrorist activities. In 2010, he was arrested but managed to escape from police custody. At that time, authorities recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition based on information he provided, including RDX, AK-47s, and other materials.

In late September 2023, the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) issued a Red Corner Notice against Karanvir Singh. This notice requested law enforcement agencies in Interpol member countries to locate and provisionally arrest him pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal actions. At the time, he was believed to be hiding in Pakistan. Interpol's charges against Singh included criminal conspiracy, murder, offenses related to the Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act, raising funds for terrorist acts, and being a member of a terrorist organization.

Karanvir Singh is considered a key member of the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). He is allegedly the right-hand man of terrorists Wadhwa Singh and Harvinder Singh Rinda, who are also believed to be in Pakistan. These individuals are purportedly continuing terrorist activities with the support of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The arrest comes amidst ongoing concerns about the activities of BKI and other extremist groups in Punjab. In recent months, there have been multiple incidents involving grenade attacks. In one instance, the Punjab Police stated that an attack was carried out by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in collaboration with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). They linked these events to attempts by Pakistan's ISI to incite unrest, using gangsters and terrorists to lure young people with promises of money and opportunities abroad.

In response to these incidents, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been actively investigating and charging individuals involved in these attacks. Several BKI operatives have been arrested. These arrests have led to the recovery of grenades and weapons, revealing plans for further attacks across Punjab.
