Indian stock markets are currently experiencing a corrective phase, with several major companies announcing their Q1 earnings. Here's a look at some key stocks to watch:
Larsen & Toubro (L&T)
Larsen & Toubro (L&T), a major engineering and construction company, is scheduled to announce its Q1 earnings today. L&T is expected to report double-digit year-on-year (YoY) growth in both profit and revenue, driven by strong execution in its core infrastructure business. However, analysts suggest that margin compression, seasonal weakness, and muted order inflows could temper overall sentiment. Brokerages estimate a potential 23% YoY jump in PAT and a 17% uptick in revenue. Key factors to monitor include order inflows, the execution status of existing projects, and overall guidance. The stock has spent 1.3% of its operating revenues towards interest expenses and 18.29% towards employee costs in the year ending March 31, 2025.
Asian Paints
Asian Paints is also set to release its Q1 earnings today. The company has experienced a notable increase in open interest, signaling heightened trading activity. However, analysts anticipate a modest performance due to continued demand weakness in urban markets and a downtrend in consumer purchasing. While volume growth in the decorative paints business is expected to remain positive, revenue growth is likely to be muted due to lower realizations. Some analysts predict a revenue decline between 3% to a marginal 1% increase YoY. The domestic decorative segment is expected to show 7% volume growth, supported by stable rural demand and recovery in project-oriented B2B segments.
IndusInd Bank
Shares of IndusInd Bank are in focus following the announcement of a 72% YoY fall in its consolidated net profit for the June quarter, which stood at ₹604 crore. The decline is attributed to deteriorating asset quality and higher provisions. The bank's net interest income also fell 14% YoY to ₹4,640 crore. Asset quality deteriorated, with gross NPA rising to 3.64% versus 2.02% in the year-ago quarter, and net NPA at 1.12% versus 0.60%. Macquarie has an underperform call with a target of Rs 650, implying a downside potential of 19 percent. CITI has a sell rating and a target price of Rs 765.
RailTel
RailTel Corporation of India, a telecommunications infrastructure provider, reported a 36% increase in its Q1 net profit, reaching ₹66 crore. Revenue from operations also saw a 33% increase, climbing to ₹744 crore. The company's strong operational performance and strategic initiatives have contributed to this growth. Despite the positive results, RailTel's shares experienced a sharp decline. Profit after tax saw a 42% quarter-on-quarter decrease.
Mazagon Dock
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, a defense public-sector shipyard, reported a 35% YoY decline in consolidated net profit for the June quarter, amounting to ₹452 crore. However, revenue from operations saw an 11.4% increase, reaching ₹2,625 crore. The company's EBITDA also fell 53.11% to ₹301 crore, with a margin of 11.46%. Despite the profit decline, Mazagon Dock has delivered multibagger gains to investors, surging over 1950% in just three years.
