Fatima Sana Shaikh has recently expressed her admiration for her "Aap Jaisa Koi" co-star, R Madhavan, showering him with praise on social media. The actress took to Instagram to share some cherished moments with Madhavan from the sets of their film, a romantic comedy-drama.
In her heartfelt caption, Fatima referred to Madhavan as her "most favourite co-actor" and "best guy ever". She extended her gratitude to him for his kindness, generosity, and for making the entire shooting experience feel easy and fun. Fatima also thanked him for the "perfect filter coffees" every morning and for sharing his mother's "sambar masala recipe". She even playfully acknowledged the "non stop supply of Gulaab jamuns".
"Maddy & Fatty… My most favourite co-actor!! Thank you for being so kind, generous, and for making this entire shoot feel easy and fun. Also, thank you for those perfect filter coffees every morning and amma's sambar masala and recipe. And the non stop supply of Gulaab jamuns!! @actormaddy you are the Best guy ever!" Fatima wrote on Instagram.
"Aap Jaisa Koi," directed by Vivek Soni and produced by Karan Johar's Dharmatic Entertainment for Netflix, features R Madhavan as Shrirenu Tripathi, a reserved middle-aged Sanskrit professor, and Fatima Sana Shaikh as Madhu Bose, a spirited French instructor. The film explores a tender romance that unfolds when their paths cross, navigating the complexities and challenges of patriarchy.
The movie is set in Jamshedpur and Kolkata and follows Shrenu, a traditional man, who starts to question his beliefs about emotions and gender roles when he encounters Madhu, who defies social norms. The film premiered on Netflix on July 11, 2025.
Fatima has also been sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses from the sets of "Aap Jaisa Koi" with director Vivek Soni. She expressed her appreciation for Soni's trust in her and for creating the character of Madhu, further celebrating the positive response to the film.
In one post, Fatima wrote, "From our daily selfies to your strange sense of humour that I still don't fully get working with you has been a ride. You're a walking, talking Bollywood encyclopaedia (I still don't know how you remember every song, every scene. You are mad!) and then there is this monk-like calmness in you".
She added, "Thank you for creating Madhu and trusting me with her. It's been such a joy being part of your cinematic and magical little world @vivek.sonni".
R Madhavan has also spoken about working with Fatima in "Aap Jaisa Koi," noting how glad he was to have found her for the role. He admitted that he was initially worried about looking old while romancing a younger actor. Fatima, on the other hand, expressed her growing interest in the romance genre, stating, "There is no love anyway in real-life, so I get to experience that on-screen".
"Aap Jaisa Koi" subtly challenges patriarchy by portraying the collision of two contrasting ideologies. Fatima explained, "In this film we are talking about finding true equality in love... There are those who are patriarchal, who are aggressive, but here we are not talking about that man".
