The special screening of "Son of Sardaar 2," starring Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur, was held in Mumbai on Thursday night, a day before its release, and numerous Bollywood celebrities graced the red carpet in stylish looks. The film, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, is a sequel to the 2012 hit comedy of the same name.
Mrunal Thakur, who plays a lead role in the film, sported a beautiful floral short dress, winning hearts with her innocent and elegant style. She also posed with her best friend, Mouni Roy. Mouni Roy brought a retro vibe to the event, arriving in a black and white polka dot dress.
Tamannaah Bhatia made a stunning appearance in a red outfit, showcasing her style and confidence. Nushrratt Bharuccha also turned heads in a red dress, looking no less than a style icon. Tamannaah's red and white co-ord dress has especially caught attention.
Many other celebrities attended the screening to support the cast and crew of "Son of Sardaar 2". Dhanush, the South Indian superstar, graced the event in a casual yet cool style. Kubbra Sait was also present in a similar color theme as Mouni Roy and posed for the cameras. Ravi Kishan, who plays a Sardar in the film, attended with his entire family. Chunky Panday, also a part of the film, was seen at the screening. Other attendees included Deepak Dobriyal and Roshni Walia.
Noticeably absent from the screening was the lead actor, Ajay Devgn. His absence sparked discussions, as he was not seen on the red carpet or in any pictures with the team.
"Son of Sardaar 2" has been given a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and has a runtime of 2 hours and 27 minutes. PVR Pictures is distributing the film across India, aiming for a release on approximately 2500 to 3000 screens. Advance ticket bookings have generated positive responses, with over 24,000 tickets sold and 130.5K "interested" tags on BookMyShow. However, some reports suggest that the advances are below expectations, and the film's opening day business is projected to be in the range of Rs 6.50 crore to Rs 7.00 crore.
The movie is a spiritual sequel to the 2012 action-comedy "Son of Sardaar". According to early reviews on social media, the film is considered a "paisa vasool entertainer". One user lauded Ajay Devgn's "desi swag, comedy timing and power screen presence". Mrunal Thakur's performance has also been praised for adding charm and balancing Ajay's dominating presence. However, some viewers felt that certain scenes were stretched and the story lacked major surprises.
