Tesla is set to inaugurate its first Supercharging Station in India on August 4, 2025, in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). This marks a significant step in the company's expansion into the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market and aims to enhance customer service and infrastructure.
The new Tesla Charging Station will feature four V4 Supercharging stalls for high-speed DC charging, delivering up to 250kW at a cost of ₹24 per kWh, along with four AC Destination Charging stalls providing 11kW charging at ₹14 per kWh. This combination of fast-charging and regular options is designed to accommodate a diverse range of EV user requirements.
Tesla's Supercharger network aims to provide a seamless and convenient charging experience for Tesla owners, boasting a 99.95% uptime. The strategic placement of Superchargers will facilitate long-distance EV travel across India. The company has plans to establish eight Supercharging locations across India. Initially, four locations will be in Mumbai and four in Delhi NCR. In Mumbai, Supercharger stations are planned for Lower Parel, Bandra Kurla, Navi Mumbai, and Thane. The National Capital Region will see stations in Aerocity (Delhi), Saket (Delhi), Gurugram, and Noida.
With the Supercharger network, a Tesla Model Y can gain up to 267 km of range in just 15 minutes. To enhance the charging experience, the Tesla app allows users to locate Supercharger stalls, monitor charging progress, receive completion alerts, and manage payments directly from their smartphones. Tesla vehicles can also intelligently route users to available charging stations and precondition the battery for optimal charging speeds.
In tandem with the Supercharger launch, Tesla has opened its Design Studio to customers in all Indian cities, enabling them to personalize and order their vehicles online. The Model Y is currently available for order in India, with deliveries prioritized for Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram, starting in Q3 2025.
The Model Y is offered in two trims:
Tesla is also providing a complimentary wall connector with the purchase of a Model Y, to be installed at the customer's residence.
The company also intends to install 'destination chargers' at various locations such as hotels and malls across both Mumbai and Delhi.
