The debate surrounding Deepika Padukone's reported demand for an 8-hour work shift on the set of Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film "Spirit" continues to spark conversation within the Bollywood industry. Recently, actress Yuvika Chaudhary weighed in on the matter, offering her perspective as a new mother and a seasoned actress.

In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla's Hindi Rush, Yuvika acknowledged the difficulties of balancing motherhood and work. "It is not easy to be a mother, and it is not easy at all to work after becoming a mother," she stated. She suggested that Deepika's demand likely stems from her dedication to her profession, emphasizing, "She loves working and that is why she is working; she is coming back to work".

Yuvika further elaborated on the respect that actors earn over time in the industry. "If you are demanding, you have given so much time to the industry so definitely you can demand that 'I will work this much time'," she asserted. She added, "When you have done a certain amount of work, I think you should get that respect". Yuvika also pointed out that such demands are not necessarily permanent, suggesting a "give and take" dynamic within the industry.

Addressing potential criticism towards Deepika's demand, Yuvika cautioned against being "ruthless" towards new mothers. She highlighted the unique challenges of this phase of life and encouraged support for working mothers in the industry. "This journey is very different, and everyone should support each other," she said.

Yuvika also reflected on the dedication that actors bring to their work, particularly when starting out. She noted that newcomers often "give their all" and remain on set until the shoot is completed.

As a new mother herself, Yuvika shared her approach to managing work and motherhood. She mentioned that she brings her daughter, Ekleen, with her to work and plans to continue doing so until Ekleen starts school.

The conversation surrounding Deepika Padukone's 8-hour shift demand highlights broader discussions about work-life balance and fair treatment within the film industry. Other actors, including Neha Dhupia, have also voiced their support for Deepika. Yuvika Chaudhary's comments add another layer to this discussion, emphasizing the importance of empathy and respect for actors, especially working mothers, who contribute significantly to the industry.
