Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has strongly criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah for what he describes as "repetitive" and "unproductive" speeches during his visits to Bihar. Yadav has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of engaging in "politics of negativity," while neglecting crucial issues facing the state.
Yadav's criticism comes in the wake of Shah's recent visit to Sitamarhi, Bihar, where he laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of the Janki Mata Temple at Punaura Dham. During a public rally, Shah attacked the opposition for their criticism of the government's handling of Operation Sindoor and accused the Congress party and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's camp of "opposing" the anti-terror operation. Shah also criticized opposition parties for allegedly opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar, accusing them of indulging in vote bank politics by including infiltrators in their support base.
Responding to Shah's remarks, Yadav used the term "pakau-thakau" to describe Shah's speeches, suggesting they are boring and tiresome. He argued that Shah consistently repeats the same points during his visits and fails to address the real problems of Bihar, such as education, healthcare, poverty, and migration. Yadav asserted that Bihar would not benefit from Shah's speeches, which he claims focus on criticizing Lalu Yadav and himself, rather than offering solutions to the state's challenges.
Yadav has accused the BJP of focusing on "politics of negativity". He claims the BJP ignores pressing issues and instead engages in personal attacks and spreading misinformation. He has previously accused the BJP of "negative and cheap politics" in response to questions raised about the Bihar government's purchase of a jet and helicopter. He contrasted this scrutiny with the lack of criticism when the Gujarat government or the central government under Narendra Modi made similar purchases.
This is not the first time Yadav has attacked Shah and the BJP. In April 2025, he accused Shah of misleading the public with falsehoods and alleged that the BJP influences the Election Commission to manipulate election timings in Bihar. He stated that Shah avoids discussing facts and instead resorts to lies and "jumlas" (catchphrases). Yadav has also criticized Shah for focusing on personal attacks against Lalu Prasad Yadav instead of addressing governance issues.
Yadav's recent remarks align with his broader strategy of positioning the RJD as a champion of development and social justice in Bihar. On Raksha Bandhan, Yadav penned a letter to the "sisters of Bihar," urging them to support the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) to defeat the NDA government and its "negative politics". He also promised to implement schemes for the welfare of the people, including a program to provide income for every girl born in the state.
