A gruesome discovery in Kolala village, located in the Koratagere taluk of Tumakuru district, Karnataka, has horrified local residents and triggered a major police investigation. On August 7th, villagers were shocked to find a stray dog dragging a severed human hand near the Mutyalamma Temple in Chimpuganahalli. This disturbing find led to the discovery of dismembered body parts scattered across ten different locations between Chimpuganahalli and Venkatapura villages along Siddarabetta Road. The body parts were found stuffed in plastic covers.
The scattered remains included limbs, internal organs, and, eventually, the victim's severed head, which was recovered on Friday near Siddarabetta. The extensive scattering of the body parts suggests a deliberate attempt to impede identification and obstruct the investigation. According to a senior police official, the police suspect that the victim was murdered elsewhere, and the body was chopped into small pieces before being disposed of every half a mile by someone traveling in a car. Investigators believe the remains were likely dumped on the night of August 6th or in the early hours of August 7th.
The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Lakshmidevamma, a resident of Bellavi in Tumakuru taluk. She had been reported missing since August 4th after failing to return home from a visit to her daughter in Urdigere. Her husband filed a missing person report with the Bellavi police. Police were able to confirm her identity based on tattoos and facial features.
Tumakuru SP Ashok K.V. is personally overseeing the investigation, with forensic teams actively collecting evidence. Special teams have been deployed to search nearby villages and review CCTV footage. While two vehicles are currently under suspicion, no arrests have been made as of yet. The body parts were discovered in areas falling under the jurisdiction of both the Koratagere and Kolala police stations. Alongside the body parts, iron metal pieces were also found inside the black plastic covers.
The motive behind this brutal murder remains unknown. The incident has drawn comparisons to the 2022 Shraddha Walkar case, in which a woman was murdered and dismembered. The police are exploring all possible angles in their investigation to determine the circumstances and identify the perpetrators of this heinous crime. The discovery of the body parts has created panic among locals in Koratagere taluk.
