Samajwadi Party's (SP) Sambhal Member of Parliament (MP), Zia-ur-Rehman Barq, has been penalized with a fine of ₹1.35 lakh for allegedly undertaking construction without the necessary building plan approvals. The construction in question is located in the Deepa Sarai locality of Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh.

According to officials, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Vikas Chandra issued a notice to the MP on December 5 of the previous year, followed by multiple reminders. Despite these notices, the construction continued without the required permissions.

SDM Vikas Chandra stated that the matter was under consideration, and an order was issued on Monday regarding the unauthorized construction. The MP was given the opportunity to submit a revised map, which was accepted. Consequently, the compoundable portion of the construction was regularized upon payment of ₹5,707.

However, a specific portion of the construction, measuring one metre in length and 14 metres in width, was identified as falling within the setback area and could not be compounded. Authorities have mandated that this particular section be removed within 30 days. Failure to comply within the given timeframe will result in further action, including the demolition of the non-compliant construction as per the established rules.
