Another such incident occurred in May 2023, when suspicious airplane-shaped balloons stamped with "PIA" were recovered from Balakote, a village near the Indo-Pakistan border. In December 2022, an aircraft-shaped balloon with PIA markings caused panic among residents of the Rajouri district.
These balloons, often black and white or colored, are usually found lying on the ground in areas close to the border. The presence of the PIA logo on these balloons raises questions about their origin and purpose. While some reports suggest they may simply be celebratory decorations that have drifted across the border, security agencies take these incidents seriously due to the sensitive nature of the region.
