The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is officially slated to launch on May 26, 2026. Rockstar Games has confirmed this release date, setting the stage for the game's debut in India and worldwide.

Initially, GTA 6 will be available on next-generation consoles, including PlayStation 5, PS5 Slim, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. PC gamers will have to wait a few years longer, as Rockstar typically releases PC versions after the console launch. The PC version is expected to require a high-end PC to run smoothly due to the game's demanding graphics and mechanics.

While official pricing is yet to be revealed by Rockstar, early leaks and speculations suggest the standard edition of GTA 6 will be priced around ₹5,999 in India. The Deluxe Edition is expected to cost ₹7,299, and the Collector's Edition could be priced at approximately ₹10,000. These prices may change by the time of launch. In the US, the standard edition is projected to be between $70 and $90. Deluxe and Collector's editions could exceed $100.

GTA 6 will transport players to Leonida, a fictional US state based on Florida, featuring the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond. The map will include locations like Vice City, Grassrivers, and the Leonida Keys, inspired by Miami, the Everglades, and the Florida Keys, respectively. Players can also explore Ambrosia, Mount Kalaga National Park, and Port Gellhorn. The game is set in a modern-day setting.

The game will feature two lead characters: Jason and Lucia. Inspired by Bonnie and Clyde, players can anticipate a compelling plot involving drug cartels, crime syndicates, and gang wars. Lucia grew up in Liberty City and dreams of a "good life" in Leonida. Newly confirmed characters include Boobie Ike, Brian Heder, Cal Hampton, Dre'Quan Priest, Raul Bautista, and Real Dimez.

Gameplay is expected to retain the core elements of the Grand Theft Auto series. Leaks suggest the return of the 6-star wanted level and a "relationship bar" similar to the honor system in Red Dead Redemption 2. Players can expect new features such as character weight changes and underwater areas with treasures. The weapon wheel is also returning. The game might have over 700 buildings players can enter, and working malls.

To run GTA 6 smoothly, leaked system requirements suggest a need for at least an Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X processor, a GTX 1080 Ti or Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card, 8GB RAM, and 150GB of storage space.

Rockstar Games confirmed the game was in development in February 2022. In September of that year, footage from unfinished versions leaked online. The game was formally revealed in December 2023.
